OUR KENNEL ACCOMMODATION

Our kennels are modern, light, airy, weatherproof and well above average in size. They are made of brick and concrete, and have a high iron roof and all kennels have an outside view to the exercise yards.

Each boarder has their own trampoline style bedding supplied and for added comfort and to bring a little bit of home into our kennels for your pet we suggest you bring with you your dog's two favourite toys and their favourite blanket/rug. In the cooler months we recommend that you bring in a jacket for your pet so that we can put it on them each night and remove it each morning.

We have 3 kennel sizes available

• Double kennel: these kennels will accommodate up to 2 giant dogs or 3 medium dogs.
• Extra large kennel: these kennels will accommodate up to 2 large dogs.
• Large kennel: these kennels will accommodate up to 2 medium dogs or 3 small dogs.

We have a separate kennel where all of our small/toy dogs board (Please click here to view our new toy/small dog facilities), and there are secure pens available upon request for climbers and bitches in season, and our exercise yards all have six foot high fencing and two internal yards have eight foot high fencing for added security for the jumpers and climbers. In addition to all this, all yards have mesh dug half a metre into the ground to stop the diggers.

CLEANING

Our kennels are washed and dried clean first thing, early every morning without fail, while your dog is out at play. When each boarder departs from their stay with us their kennel is scrubbed clean with bleach and an anti-bacterial foam wash, and then rinsed, for the utmost hygiene ready for our next boarder.

EXERCISE

Daily Exercise

At Mageela Kennels we take great pride in looking after your working dog's exercise requirements and all exercise periods are included in your daily boarding fee. In the morning your dog receives an hour to two hours exercise dependent on how full the kennels are and in the evening after dinner your dog receives an hour's exercise regardless of how full the kennel is - yes, many times we are turning the lights out after 9:30pm.

During our not so busy times your dog will also receive an hour's exercise around midday as long as it is not too hot or too wet. These exercise periods apply to all boarders, whether they are working dog breeds or not, however if your dog is not comfortable with this amount of exercise (he/she will let us know) we will adjust exercise time accordingly. Small and toy dogs have their own separate grassed area to exercise in. All exercise periods are subject to weather conditions of the day.

Exercise Groups

At Mageela, we classify dogs into various exercise groups depending on their exercise need and their personality to ensure that both their exercise and socialisation needs are met.

Social Groups:With your permission we run social dogs together whenever possible so if your dog likes to have a chin wag, play with other dogs or even dig a few holes together we will run them in one of our larger exercise yards with dogs of similar breed, nature and exercise requirements.

Family Groups: Family Groups will be exercised as their own unit unless you request otherwise, and they are suitably social to be exercised with a larger Social Group.

Singles: Dogs which can be said to be less tolerant towards playing with other dogs or need to be exercised by themselves shall receive the same amount of exercise as the others, but will be placed in an exercise yard of their own.

DIET

Meals are a combination of home-cooked chicken mince, rice and veges, Tucker Time dog roll and dog biscuits (in most cases the same dog biscuits as your dog has at home).

HEALTH

Twenty four hour veterinary care is provided whilst your pet is boarding with us.

Please also note that ALL boarders require a current vaccination certificate dated within the last 12 months, and you must present this card to us each time you board your dog. It is recommended that your dog be vaccinated with a C5 vaccine which also includes a vaccination against canine cough.

HYDROBATH

All boarding dogs who have boarded for 5 days or more will receive a complimentary flea/shampoo hydrobath on their departure day, weather permitting.

$23.00 per day: Little dogs - (Please click here to view our toy & small dog list)
$24.00 per day: Medium size dogs - includes most Beagles, Spaniels, Kelpies, Staffies, Cattle dogs (Heelers)
$25.00 per day: Large dogs - include most Collies, Labradors, Retrievers, Siberian Huskies, Ridgebacks, Shepherds
$26.00 per day: Big fellas includes most Mastiffs, Great Danes and exceptionally big large breed dogs

**NOTE**: Puppies attract the same daily fee as their adult category and are fed twice per day. Giant breed puppies can be fed three times per day upon request.

The daily boarding fee applies for each calendar day that your dog(s) stay with us. This includes the day your dog comes in and the day your dog goes home. Note that all daily boarding fees and discounts quoted are GST inclusive.

We accept cash, eftpos, MasterCard*, Visa Card* & cheque when you drop your dog(s) off, or cash only when you pick your dog(s) up.
A 50% deposit when you drop your dog off for all boarding stays longer than 14 days will be greatly appreciated.

NOTE: *Credit card transactions attract a 2% transaction surcharge.

Discounts

Note that long stay and family group discounts are only applicable if you pay 50% of the total estimated boarding fee when you drop your dog off.

Long stay discounts
10% discount if your dog stays for more than 4 weeks

Family Group discounts
NOTE: These discounts apply to dogs in family groups which do not need to be housed separately.
10% discount for family groups of dogs.

What to bring
Please bring along with you the following items each time you board your dog:

• Your dog’s lead.
• Your dog’s vaccination certificate for us to view.
• An old futon or towel/rug/sheeting (with smells of home) for us to place on the trampoline bed that we provide for your dog.
• Your dog’s jacket especially in the colder months of April to September.
• An old toy or two for your dog.
• Any prescribed medication that your dog might be taking.
